Compa: Dreams / Them Dogs [ INNAR002 ]

Inna Riddim Records is proud to present Compa’s debut release ‘Dreams / Them Dogs’, available from all good digital retailers from 15th April 2011.

Dreams takes you on a journey into the deepest recesses of your subconscious. Driven by an icy synth, quavering and vanishing into a reverb landscape of merciless polar temperatures, the halfstep rhythm laid down with perfect deliberation, this one’s a stone cold killer. On the flip, Them Dogs retains the surgical precision but brings the dancefloor pressure. Announcing its presence with a rude grime-style lead, it shifts up the pace with a rollicking bassline and a compelling swing that will instantly transform the most sluggish of raves into an alien ritual – limbs and torsos will flex and torque as feeble human minds are hypnotised to hail the extraterrestrial dubstep Ãœbermensch Compa.

Check out both tracks in the player on the right. The ‘buy’ link take you to our digital shop (cutting out the middleman = more cash gets to the artist), or if you’d rather, you can use one of the bigger digital retailers (e.g. Juno, TrackItDown etc).

Hailing from Blackburn in Lancashire (UK) Compa is resident for Manchester Dubstep collective Just Skank, pushing his now-signature deeper, darker vibes on a regular basis around the city, and runs his own regular event in Blackburn called Wax with his partner-in-crime Brunks.

He’s one of a rare breed of DJ/producers who proudly propagates the dub plate culture that has always been a definitive trademark of the UK’s Dubstep, Jungle/D&B scenes – regularly making the trip from Manchester to London to visit cutting houses to cut his exclusive tracks on dub plate and rubbing shoulders with all the biggest names in the scene in the process.

Resetting the precedence and abetting the resurgence of sub-heavy foundation-style Dubstep, it’s no surprise he was first drawn towards the deeper, edgier sounds of early luminaries of the scene such as Hatcha, Artwork, Burial & Digital Mystikz.

Having recently been invited to appear on legendary GetDarker TV for an exclusive set alongside Watson and America’s Dubstep ambassador Joe Nice (Baltimore), Compa’s dubplate-laden track lists can also be heard on internationally renowned underground radio station Sub.FM on which he broadcasts his own show to the world.

Of notable mention is the fact that Dreams was picked up by BBC DJ Sean Mcginty who introduced Compa with high commendations on his ‘BBC Introducing’ show.

We’re expecting big things from this star in the rising: 2011 has already been an exciting year for Compa with much more to follow including the release of Aftermath & Darker Observations available June/July through Mancudian bass music imprint Futureworks.

Check out Compa’s promo mix including his own forthcoming and unreleased tracks: available to stream and download exclusively from Inna Riddim.
